Martin's warranty of excellence

All of our Martin’s products are covered by a complete and competitive warranty.

We invite you to consult the following documents to learn more about its details and conditions.

General conditions

This warranty is valid for the first purchaser and is non-transferable;
For the first year, we provide a full warranty including parts and labor on our products. Thereafter, the guarantee applies only to the replacement or repair of parts found defective by Martin;
Parts will be replaced by identical or equivalent quality parts, depending on their availability;
The repaired or replaced products are covered for the remaining period of the original warranty;
This warranty applies only to Martin products;
Martin reserves the right to make improvements and changes in its product’s design. In this case, Martin does not undertake to modify the products already delivered;
Products installed outside the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia are covered under warranty for replacement of defective parts only (owner is responsible for transport and labor cost).

Effective from: This warranty applies to all products delivered to our distributor after September 10th, 2012. All products previously sold by Martin are subject to the guarantee that was valid at the date of delivery to our distributors.

PVC COMPONENTS: 20 YEARS – PVC COMPONENTS (PAINTED): 10 YEARS

Frames and sashes entirely made of PVC are guaranteed against cracking, flaking, distortion and discoloration that most affects the appearance of the product. However, discoloration of surfaces caused by an irregular variable exposure to the sun or any other natural element is not considered a defect. This kind of discoloration is not covered by this warranty. It is normal to see a gradual change of the luster of the product over the years. Martin reserves the right to refuse to paint the PVC parts in any dark colour that may cause a risk to the product. The warranty covers only the PVC parts painted by Martin.

Aluminium Components: 20 years

The aluminum components are guaranteed against deformation for a period of 20 years. The paint on the aluminum components is guaranteed for a period of 10 years against cracking, flaking, distortion and discoloration which may affect the appearance of the product. However, discoloration caused by an irregular variable exposure of surfaces to the sun or any other natural elements is not considered a defect. This kind of discoloration is not covered by this warranty. It is normal to see over the years a gradual change of the paint’s luster Martin reserves the right to refuse to paint the aluminum parts in any dark colour that may cause a risk to the product. The warranty covers only aluminum parts painted by Martin.

Steel doors – With primer: 10 years - Painted: 10 years

The warranty on steel doors with primer, white paint and painted colors covers major deformations such as subsidence, swelling, delaminating, any twisting of over a 1 / 4 of an inch and holes caused by corrosion.

Doors, with primer must be painted within the month following installation. The paint applied by a subcontractor or by the owner, is not covered by this warranty. Factory painted steel are guaranteed against cracking, flaking, distortion and discoloration which may affect the appearance of the product. However, discoloration caused by an irregular variable exposure of surfaces to the sun or any other natural element is not considered a defect. This kind of discoloration is not covered by this warranty. It is normal to see a gradual change of the product’s luster over the years.

Martin reserves the right to refuse to paint steel doors in any dark colour that may cause a risk to the product. The warranty covers only doors painted by Martin.

Clear or Energy efficient (Low-E) – Sealed glass units: 10 years – Clear: 10 years – Low-E: 20 years

The sealed glass units are guaranteed against moisture formation and dust deposition between two sheets of glass caused by a defective seal if it creates considerable visual obstruction. For the first year, we grant an additional guarantee that covers spontaneous breakage of the sealed glass unit. We define by spontaneous breakage, a crack on the glass internal not caused by the impact of any object. Single glazing is not covered by this warranty.

Sealed glass unit for doors - Decorative: 10 years - Clear, Low-E and grilles: 10 years

The sealed glass unit is guaranteed against moisture formation and dust deposition between two sheets of glass caused by a defective seal if it creates considerable visual obstruction. For the first year, we grant an additional guarantee that covers spontaneous breakage of the sealed glass unit. We define spontaneous breakage as a crack on the glass internal not caused by the impact of any object.

WOOD COMPONENTS: 5 YEARS - WINDOWS

Wood frames and sashes are guaranteed against warping of more than 1 / 4 inch or 6 mm. All wood pieces must be painted or dyed within 30 days after installation. Paint or stain must be reapplied periodically to ensure adequate protection of the product. In addition the window must not be exposed to excessive moisture before, during and after the application of paint or stain, or to excessive temperature changes. Gaskets should be checked annually and renewed if necessary. Colour variations of the wood and resin trapped in the wood are not considered defects under this warranty.

WOOD COMPONENTS: 5 YEARS - DOORS

Frames and door panels are guaranteed against warping of more than ¼ inch or 6mm. All wooden parts of the frame and the 6 surfaces of the wooden door panel must be painted or dyed within a period of 30 days after installation. Paint or stain must be reapplied periodically to ensure efficient protection of the product. In addition the doors must not be exposed to excessive moisture before, during and after the application of paint or stain, or to excessive temperature changes. Crackles and minor cracks on wooden door panels or slabs are not considered defects. Gaskets should be checked annually and renewed if necessary. Colour variations of the wood and resin trapped in the wood are not considered defects under this warranty.

Our doors are not guaranteed for commercial use.

FACTORY APPLIED FINISH: 1 YEAR

Factory-applied staining on our wood products is guaranteed against cracking, flaking, distortion and discoloration which may affect the appearance of the product. However, discoloration caused by an irregular variable exposure of surfaces to the sun or other natural elements is not considered a defect. This kind of discoloration is not covered by this warranty. It is normal to see over the years a gradual change of the luster of the product. During the winter season, doors must be clear of any snow accumulation to prevent damage on the door and its finished surface.

HARDWARE: 5 YEARS

The hardware is guaranteed against material defects under normal use. This warranty does not cover normal wear discoloration, rust or any other alteration whatsoever to the various finishes.

OTHER COMPONENTS: 1 YEAR

All other doors and windows components, not listed above, such as removable grilles, integrated grilles, weatherstripping, sealing, screens and jamb extensions delivered by Martin, are warranted against material defects under normal conditions of use.

Note: The screens are guaranteed to prevent insects from entering, while allowing air circulation. A screen must not be considered a safety feature. Under no circumstances does a screen prevent an accident or keep someone from falling out of the window.

Exclusions

The warranty does not cover problems arising or resulting from improper installation, poor maintenance, abuse, neglect, vandalism, impact from foreign objects of any kind of structure movement, distortion or failure of the foundation walls.

The warranty does not cover problems arising or resulting from claims such as: fire, heat, explosion, excessive temperature or exposure to chemicals.

The warranty does not cover problems arising or resulting from conditions such as a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, flood, landslide, the impact of pollution, mold or any other natural disaster.

The warranty does not cover the problems of condensation on glass surfaces caused by high humidity in the house or poor ventilation.

The warranty does not cover the cost of scaffolding and installation, finishing inside or outside during a repair or replacement of a Martin product.

The warranty does not cover all indirect or punitive claims regarding the use and installation of Martin products.

The warranty does not cover the cost of finishing, painting and staining done by the distributor or the customer.

Claims

Any defect must be reported no later than 30 days following the discovery of the problem by its user.

Defects detected should be reported to our distributor. To identify the product, the claimant must provide proof of purchase such as invoices and / or, preferably, our product’s serial number. Moreover, it is necessary to indicate clearly the reason for the claim and the information required on the Service form.

If the service call is not justified under the conditions of our guarantee, travel expenses and labour will be charged to the consumer or distributor.

When we provide replacement parts, they are billed to the distributor or the customer. Replacement parts under warranty are shipped to the distributor nearest you.

The defective parts must be returned to our office within 60 days of receiving the new parts. If the claim is justified, the invoice amount is credited or refunded (*).

(*) After this period of time, no refund will be authorized.

Technician

When repairs must be done (by our technician), the owner must ensure accessibility to the product. If scaffolding is required it must be installed before the arrival of the technician and the costs incurred by such facilities are paid by the owner of the residence. Other repairs and finishing are also paid by the owner of the residence.

INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE

The installation of our products should follow the rules and recommendations of the standard CAN/CSA-A-440.

All our window and door products require customary and periodic maintenance.
